Cornwall Screech Owl Sanctuary

Cornwall Screech Owl Sanctuary

Yesterday our local Owl sanctuary the ‘Screech Owl Wildlife Park’ held a St Pirans day £2 entry special, and despite the awful windy wet weather we all still had a really nice visit and were glad we had braved the weather to go.P1110231
The Owls were spectacular so many different shapes sizes and markings.

There was plenty of parking right next to the entrance and on the flat, easy for buggies, wheelchairs and walking. Going through the well marked entry the ticket office is a few yards ahead, along with a small shop with some lovely items for sale to remember your visit and support the sanctuary.  We had arrived with a few minutes to spare for a quick look around before heading over to the covered barn for the first of the days flying displays.
We were by the close encounters area where we were able to stroke one of the larger owls which a lovely lady was holding on her gloved hand.stroking the owls
Over at the barn we sat on hay bails as a young man talked us through interesting facts about the owls he was flying, today we had this handsome chap, a young teenage owl  now no longer regarded as a native species due to its extremely low numbers. An owl full of character as they all are and a delight to watch and meet.P1110254P1110257
And fluffy is a film star!, fluffy is the owl ‘Soren’  from the film ‘Legends of the Guardians’,  it was his movements that the animators studied for the character of Soren.
